Trading

Petrolin Trading, the Petrolin Group trading affiliate, specializes in the marketing of African crudes via international invitations to tender. Competitive proposals obtained under the invitations to tender, coupled with a strategy of combining small batches of crude from marginal fields into standard size cargoes have resulted in the following benefits for clients:

  • Increase in the number of liftings,
  • Obtaining more stable cashflow, and
  • Lower price risk permitting the adoption of annual average price quotations for determining the barrel price.

Among the bidders who won our invitations to tender are included  Addax, BP, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, Glencore, Hess, Reliance, Shell, Sunoco, and Total.

Crude oils marketed by Petrolin Group come from its own production in Africa and in the Middle East, from multinational oil companies, independent producers, and producing countries in Africa.

Refining

The processing of local African crude oils at regional refineries increases the value added to refined products such as gasoline, kerosene, diesel and fuel available to meet the needs of West and Central African markets, whose demand for refined products is constantly on the rise.

Besides adding value to the local crude oil, the intra-African trade reduces transport cost for consuming markets and improves the earnings of local refineries thru the utilisation of spare refining capacity.

The policy of the Group is to add value to crude production in situ so as to meet the needs of captive local refined product demand.
